PRISCILLA BATES BROGOTO

FOUNDER & OWNER


Early in her career, Priscilla was a regular on the television show American Bandstand, appeared in the movie "April Love" starring Pat Boone and choreographed for many musical shows. After moving to Kansas City, she began teaching her friends’ children in her own basement in 1968. She has turned her business into a large, award-winning studio due to her outstanding talent, patience and heart. Priscilla was recently awarded the Deborah Barnes "Art for Life" Award, and was named "National Teacher of the Year 2013" by the Federation of Dance Competitions.

DANA MCGUIRE

CO-OWNER, instructor


Dana graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and was a member of the Golden Girls Dance team for four years and captain/choreographer for two of those years. She was selected as a Collegiate All-American for Dance. Dana is a former Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader, choreographer and captain and was selected to represent the Kansas City Chiefs at the NFL Pro Bowl in 1996. She is a master teacher for various camps, studios and conventions including Dance Masters of America. Dana is a sought after judge for regional and national dance, cheer, and talent competitions throughout the United States as well as the Miss America system. She has received numerous choreography awards at the regional and national level. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.

christin Amedee


For over 10 years, Christin Amedee has provided an exceptional, intensely-designed training experience in the competitive dance circuit. Christin was fortunate enough to dance alongside and under the direction of  knowledgeable dance experts such as Mia Michaels, Sonya Tayeh, Nick Watkins, Joe Lanteri and others who helped to mold her into the teacher and choreographer she is today.  Students under Christin's education have been on television shows like America's Got Talent, Live To Dance, So You Think You Can Dance, So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation, World of Dance and more. They have/are attending some of the country's top arts programs including The Juilliard School, Marymount Manhattan College, and NYU.  Teaching nationally and internationally, Christin's strengths include Contemporary, Jazz, Progressive Technique and Improv. Her goal is to instill incredible work ethic while nurturing the willingness to explore one's individuality. With a focus on strong technique and original style, Christin's work speaks for itself.

GINA ARTESE


Gina has taught ballet on staff at Elite Dance Academy in NYC, State Ballet of Missouri, Priscilla & Dana’s School of Dance, Imagine Ballet Theatre, gives master classes nationally and is a judge for Dancers Inc. She danced professionally with Kansas City Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Christopher Wheeldon’s Morphoses and Twyla Tharp. She performed The Charleston at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and most recently in My Princess Diana a musical in New York City for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. She danced live at The Kennedy Center Honors on CBS and in Balanchine’s Don Quixote with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. Ms. Artese recently played a ballet teacher on a new tv pilot for Starz called Run The World. She has guest starred in Netflix's Friends From College , and a as dancing/singing cat on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She was a ballerina on The Blacklist and was pranked on Impractical Jokers. She is the face of Bridezillas and competed on FOX’s The Choice in 2012. Gina was a featured ballerina in Black Swan, Center Stage and Our Idiot Brother. She was featured in Something Borrowed and country line dancing in The Americans. She has booked commercials for Old Navy and Macy's with Diddy and also played "Tina" in Tony and Tina's Wedding. 

Hannah Castleman


Hannah was trained at Priscilla and Dana’s School of Dance where she won countless awards and scholarships at competitions and conventions. She graduated in 2015 from UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance with a dance degree with an emphasis in Modern. Hannah was also a member of the UMKC Dance Team all four years while attending college. She was captain for three years and won awards such as All-American and Top Gun Leaps at the collegiate NDA camp. Hannah currently coaches Lee’s Summit West High School Dance Team. She has led the team to numerous awards at Regional and State competitions across Missouri and a National Championship in Large Varsity Pom at Dance Team Union. Hannah specializes in several dance styles including jazz, modern, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, pom, and tumbling. 

EMANUELLA CERVELLO


Dancing since the age of 2, Emanuella Cervello grew up training and competing in multiple genres of dance - lyrical, contemporary, jazz, musical theater, ballet, and ballroom. She has won multiple awards and scholarships throughout her career and was featured in the ballroom group The Miami AllStars on the first season of World of Dance. After years of teaching at Dancetown Miami, Emanuella has developed a love for teaching all ages across many genres of dance. 

 

For the last 5 years, Emanuella has been the ballroom instructor at G-Force dance company wherein she introduced the genre to the studio and choreographed many ballroom competition numbers for them. She specializes in cha-cha, samba, rumba, and jive, and teaches all levels and ages! 

TERI DAY


Teri graduated from William Jewell College summa cum laude with a degree in Public Relations. During college she was a Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader, choreographer, captain and was selected to represent the Kansas City Chiefs at the NFL Pro Bowl. Following her cheerleading years, she worked in the front office of the NFL Team in Sales and Marketing for 10 years. Now, she specializes in tap dance education and choreography. Most of the year she spends at Priscilla & Dana’s in Kansas City - where she started as a student 42 years ago! Throughout the summer and fall, Teri travels the region teaching and choreographing. Teri started and directs the “Student Choreography Project,” a benefit for the National Brain Tumor Society in memory of her father, Larry. In the seven year event history, families of Priscilla and Dana’s have donated $100,000 to brain tumor research. She enjoys building relationships and mentoring young students while sharing her passion for tap dance.

Jaymes Dickenson 


Jaymes grew up dancing competitively at Priscilla and Dana's and has returned to share his love for dance with the current generation of P&D dancers. In college, Jaymes was a part of MO State Movement, a student run dance team on Missouri State's Campus. During his 4 years on the team he was Vice President for 2 years and choreographed many routines. Currently, Jaymes is the head coach of the state champion and nationally ranked Blue Valley Southwest Dance Team. Along with coaching, he is also a Head Instructor for the National Dance Alliance. He spends his summers traveling to teach high school and college dance teams across the country.

EMILY ELLIS


Emily has been dancing since the age of 3 and has trained in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, pointe and gymnastics. Growing up, she won awards and scholarships at dance conventions, competitions and camps was an assistant for Dance Olympus. She attended Emporia State University with a major in Recreation and Promotional Health. During her time in Emporia, Emily taught for Kari’s Dance Academy and NDA. She has been teaching dance for over 26 years and has traveled to several studios for choreography. In addition to her dance talents, Emily has theatre experience including Theater in the Park. Emily also started her own dance company which goes to early education centers and preschools to teach the fundamentals of tap, ballet and cheer.

SAMANTHA FRANKLIN


Samantha grew up in Lee's Summit, MO beginning her training and love of dance at two. She trained competitively for many years at Wynn Twins School of Dance under the direction of Jann Wynn & Stephanie Judah, and then at the heart of america dance center . At HADC, Sam was on the competition team and trained with the Heart of America Youth Ballet. A regular in the annual HAYB production of The Nutcracker, sam graced the stage as the Rat King, Snowflake dancer and a Russian dancer. in high school, Sam was a part of the LSHS Tigerettes dance team and was a captain for two years.  After HS, Sam attended Missouri State University and was member of the Sugar Bears, a nationally ranked collegiate dance team. In her time there, the sugar bears placed 8th in the nation for D1 jazz in 2017. After Missouri State, Sam then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for 3 years and spent her time teaching jazz and lyrical technique and choreographing for the competition team at The Dance Academy.  After graduating college, Sam began coaching for the LSHS Varsity Tigerettes and now teaches at P&D. Sam is passionate about teaching and loves being a part of the P&D family!

JONI HALL


Joni has been teaching ballet and lyrical at P & D since 1991. She trained with Ballet West, Dallas Ballet and such ballet legends as Maria and Marjorie Tallchief, to name a few. Joni danced professionally with the Kansas City Ballet, under the direction of Todd Bolender, as well as performing as a touring dancer with the KC Lyric Opera. She judges for many regional and national competitions and enjoys teaching master classes. Joni's ballet and lyrical choreography has received national awards and recognition. Her students have gone on to successful careers in the industry as performers and instructors. Joni is a graduate of William Jewell College and has a Master's Degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Noell Hinsley


Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Noell competed on a company at Nebraska Dance for eleven years and was a member, and eventually captain of the Skutt Catholic High School Dance Team. After high school, Noell attended Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and danced competitively for the college as well. While in college, her team won three national championships and two runner-up positions at UDA nationals. After graduating this past April with a Bachelor's in Government, Noell will be continuing her dance career as Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader and is thrilled to join the teachers at Priscilla and Dana's School of Dance bringing her passion for jazz, contemporary and dance team training to the studio.  In addition, Noell will also be staying busy, attending graduate school this fall at KU Law.

Kristen Kemp


Kristen grew up dancing and competing in the Kansas City area and has been involved in the dance and performance world for over 35 years. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre, contemporary, irish dance, modern, and ballroom dance. As a student, Kristen performed as a singer, dancer, and actress in various musical productions. She also spent several years competing with nationally recognized dance troupes before continuing on to dance professionally for both the Kansas City Knights and Kansas City Panthers, and locally as a ballroom dancer. Kristen spent 17 years as Competition Director and lead choreographer at Center Stage Academy in Warrensburg, MO. She has been awarded multiple choreography awards and national overall championships for her outstanding routines. Her students won multiple regional and national titles under her direction, as well scholarships to the The Ailey School, The Joffrey Ballet, UMKC Conservatory of Dance, Theatre Arts Preparatory School, IAMT, Oklahoma City University, Montclair State University and the Missouri Fine Arts Academy, as well as multiple competitions and conventions. Many of her students have gone on to have professional careers in dance and performing arts, including performing on Broadway and on national Broadway tours. Many have also gone on to have successful teaching careers in the arts. She is very proud to have choreographed for several award-winning winter guards, dance teams and show choirs throughout the Midwest. Kristen has also served a national dance competition adjudicator for over 10 years. She enjoys judging competitions and auditions, and strives to provide consistent, thoughtful, and useful feedback. She truly loves working with students and takes great pride in teaching her students confidence, class, and the true art of dance. 

YVONNE kESTER-hayes


Yvonne K. Hayes has been a vocal music educator, conductor, and instructional leader for twenty-seven years. Upon graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1995 with a BSE in K-12 music education/vocal performance she began her teaching career; currently serving Missouri students as a Director of College and Career Readiness.  Yvonne also has a vast background in sacred music, private studio voice, and musical productions. In her tenure, she has musically directed and conducted more than thirty musicals in a variety of venues, while maintaining various adjunct teaching positions in both the public and private sectors with children, youth, and adults. Yvonne is not only a dedicated professional; she is a devoted mother of four children. Finally, she obtained a Masters of Arts degree from the University of St. Mary, completed an Educational Specialist degree in school administration from William Woods University and is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree.

Ellie MacDonald


Ellie was a member of Priscilla and Dana's competitive team for 12 years and is trained in all styles of dance. Ellie is a graduate of Liberty North High School where she danced on the Golden Girls dance team for 4 years and served as captain. Ellie was a member of the UMKC Roos dance team for 1 year and got to compete at NDA Nationals placing 2nd overall with her team. Ellie has continued her dance career choreographing for high school dance teams in the states of Kansas and Missouri and is a current NFL cheerleader for the Kansas City Chiefs. Outside of teaching and cheering, Ellie has her degree in elementary education and is certified to teach grades 1-6.

HOLLY MARKOVICH


Holly has been teaching competitive and recreational dance for over a decade-- specializing in jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. Growing up, Holly trained at Dance Xcel, winning numerous awards, titles, and scholarships on the regional and national level. At Dance Xcel, Holly trained with world-renowned choreographers such as Sonya Tayeh, Brooke Pierotti, Tokyo, Fred Odgaard, Joy Spears, Nick Watkins, Zandra Thomas, and Bruce Campbell. She performed as a Rock Chalk Dancer at the University of Kansas, as well as a dancer/aerialist for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Although she loves performing, Holly’s true passion is teaching and choreographing. Her innovative choreography has won several awards throughout the competition spectrum. She continues to teach master classes and set choreography for different studios and dance teams across the nation, and, in 2015, returned from Germany where she taught a series of master classes at the prestigious Ballettschule am Sauerland Park. In 2021, her dancers and choreography were featured on JoJo Siwa’s “Dance Pop Revolution.” Holly encourages inclusivity, creativity, and hard work in and out of the classroom. 

Crysti miller


Crysti grew up competing at the Regional & National levels.  She is a former National Champion, as well as the Dancer of The Year in 1999.  She has been privileged to have performed for music videos, TV Commercials, industrials, and for the Gus Giordano's Dance Company.  She is thankful to have had the opportunity to work with choreographers whose credits include Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, and So You Think You Can Dance.  Crysti's choreography credits include numerous choreography awards at the regional and national level as well as doing choreography for the Kansas City Chief's Cheerleaders for 11 years. She also enjoys judging for Hall of Fame and getting to see dancers from all over the world.  She moved from LA to teach dance in her home town of Kansas City 11 years ago and was the proud owner of Studio J Performing Arts Center for 4 years.  Her passion is for teaching, motivating, and inspiring young dancers. She has been honored to have trained dancers that have gone on to dance at the collegiate level as well as professionally. She feels so privileged to be able to share her passion with her students and watch them develop their own passion for the art of dance.  


Megan O'Malley Jones


During her time in Illinois, Megan danced for Perseverance Dance Company where she trained under the guidance of award-winning choreographer Melissa Ridgway. After years of competing with Perseverance and winning numerous scholarships and awards, Megan was a member of the prestigious University of Tennessee Dance Team, winning the UDA National Championships in 2015 and 2016. After graduation, she was a teacher and choreographer for all age levels at Revolution Dance in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her husband is a member of the Air Force. Megan is known for top-notch, creative choreography; a positive high-energy teaching style and excellent technical knowledge. She loves instilling her passion for dance in her students. 

Kaitlin Rader


KAITLIN is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, with a major in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, and a minor in Business.  While at  MIZZOU, Kaitlin was employed as a tap teacher and choreographer for a local Columbia, MO dance studio and served as the dance director for her sorority.  Specializing in tap, Kaitlin has taught master dance classes and choreographed for various Missouri dance studios.  Additionally, Kaitlin has been a featured dancer at Worlds of Fun and enjoys choreographing for local high school dance teams. Kaitlin is a former P&D dancer and is excited to be a part of the P&D family again! 


Danice shaw


Danice began dancing at the age of three under the instruction of Miss Priscilla.  She has competed and performed throughout the United states as well as Ireland and Russia.  Danice has studied many dance genres, but specializes in , hip hip and pom.  She has coached high school dance since 2003, leading two teams to win the Missouri state championship.  In addition to coaching and teaching dance, Danice has worked as a choreographer in pageantry for almost 25 years.  She is currently the lead choreographer for the iam Pageant Powerhouse. 

Chalatorn Ujamras


Chalatorn graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in dance after attending the Orange County School of the Arts. Chalatorn has traveled throughout the United States as an assistant to Tina D’Amato Sidoni, assisting with dance instruction and choreography. In 2004, she also traveled as an assistant on LA Dance Magic Conventions.  Chalatorn choreographs and teaches master classes throughout the United States at various dance studios and high schools. She is an instructor and choreographer at Orange County School of the Arts, West Coast School of the Arts and South County Dance Company. She has also been a part of Unity LA, under the direction of Tessandra Chavez. She has performed in a Camp Rock 2 promo, and appeared on various episodes of America’s Got Talent, and The Big Bang Theory.
